1.4 million people living in Austria are ineligible to vote in the upcoming presidential elections. There are many people living in Austria that were not born in the country. And Austria doesn’t always make it easy to feel at home.
Jake and Gabriel explore with the TWG community what ‘Heimat’ aka. 'home' means to us in a world in which many of us are living far from where we grew up. And even if you are living in the place where you were born - this doesn’t necessarily make it the place where you feel at home.
Let’s just say, things get deep and philosophical.
What do we specifically talk about?
+ How do we (including lots of input from our Austria-based community) define home
+ What is it like not to have a home in the traditional sense
+ What things do we identify with that feeling of home – people, food, language, a place?
+ How did Gabriel’s grandma end up in a bottle of pumpkin seed oil
And much more!
